2 Why should we cooperate? Sharing products and information Cost efficient – less double work Sharing experience and ideas Cooperation between international organisations, governments, NGO’s, researchers could spread the word to a broader public.

3 What could the UN do? -Needs assesments and surveys -Promote international cooperation and exchange -Generate resources, both finances and materials -We need your needs!

4 Survey of current activities and needs What do we have and what do we need? -Survey of activities – helps to identify needs, opportunities and assets for sharing. -Countries are encouraged to include art 6 activities in their National communications -Survey for this workshop -Clearing house -Need to continue to identify what exists and what is needed

5 International cooperation and exchange Regional workshops Clearing house - Places to share ideas, experience and materials

6 International cooperation and exchange Media cooperation -Workshops for journalists on IPCC reports -Better exchange of information used for media -UNFCCC website gives you an update of what the media writes about climate change

7 International cooperation and exchange Simplify IPCC findings Leads to better understanding How could we cooperate and make better use of the IPCC findings? Simplified guides and Vital Climate Graphics are useless unless someone uses them

8 Generate resources to developing countries -Identify existing resources -Strenghten and share these resources -New Dehli work programme calls on GEF support -Business sector? -Need innovative ideas

9 Impact of information Targeted information -What kind of impact do we want our information to have? -Climate change information needs to be targeted towards different groups, business, parliamentarians, NGOs, journalists etc.

10 Impact of science based information IPCC findings have had a clear impact on the political agenda. - Climate change convention -Kyoto protocol
