2 … assessment is an action in which evidence of learning is collected – it can help to make judgements about learning but also even more importantly it can help to inform learning. In an inquiry classroom: What can give us information about the learning? Student artefacts (mind maps, plan, drawing, models…), dialogue, observation When can we get this information? P re-activity, during activity, post activity Who assesses? Student, Peer, Teacher

3 ..equip teachers across Europe with assessment strategies to evaluate a number of key IBSE skills and competencies developed in the classroom, when an IBSE methodology is adopted. Teacher education programmes: Experience inquiry and experience / realise assessment opportunities Support teachers trialling in school – planning, implementing, reflecting Support teachers developing own units/materials Based on SAILS Inquiry and Assessment Units

4 SAILS Project (2012-2015) 2,500 teachers have attended Teacher Education programmes: integrate teaching, learning and assessment adapt assessment strategies to suit their particular classroom and context identify a range of assessment opportunities, and select ‘fit for purpose’ realise relevant all across Europe promote student engagement  Teachers are empowered and motivated by SAILS approach
