3 Why do you some times use (er/ est) and some times ( more / most)? You need to know about syllables, stress, vowels and consonants.

4 Rule for adding (er/ est) : Add ( er/ est) to these:- One-syllable adjectives Eg : cold, colder, the coldest Tow-syllables adjectives :- (1) that end in (y) change to (i) :- Eg : ugly, uglier, the ugliest (2) with stress on the first syllable :- Eg : clever, cleverer, the cleverest

5 Rule for adding ( more / most ) : Add ( more / most ) to these :- Tow-syllable adjectives that end in ful eg careful, more careful, the most careful less eg careless ing eg boring ed eg frightened ous eg famous * Adjectives with more than tow syllables eg dangerous

7 Spelling rules:- If a one-syllable adjective ends with one vowel letter followed by one consonant letter, you double the consonant letter when adding (er) or (est), eg : hot, hotter,hottest. Exercise :- Complete these sentences: 1- My mother is the -------------- person in our family. 2-Riding a bicycle is ------------------------------- than driving a car. 3- March was the ---------------------- month this year.
