3 Mark Twain He was born as Samuel Clemens in 1835. He grew up along the Mississippi River. He was a humorist as well as an author. He also spent time in many places, including Europe and San Francisco.

6 Jack London He was born as John Griffith Chaney on January 12, 1876, in San Francisco, CA. When he was eight months old his mother married John London and he took the surname, London. He wrote several books and short stories before becoming famous for The Call of the Wild.
