1 “Joe Alaskey, voice of Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck, dies”

2 Troy, New York - Joe Alaskey, a prolific voice actor best known for portraying Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck and other beloved "Looney Tunes" characters, died Wednesday of cancer. He was 63. Alaskey was one of the actors who handled Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck after the 1989 death of the famed Mel Blanc. In an interview with Splitsider.com in 2012, Alaskey said pinning down the Bugs Bunny voice was one of the hardest things he had to perfect. Daffy Duck proved to be one of his most prominent roles. He won an Emmy in 2004 for his performance on Cartoon Network's "Duck Dodgers.” The actor voiced many other beloved Looney Tunes characters including Tweety Bird, Sylvester the Cat and Plucky Duck. In addition, Alaskey also voiced Grandpa Lou Pickles on Rugrats, appearing in three films and the spinoff series, "All Grown Up.” He didn't just do cartoons. Among his other roles: Jackie Gleason in the TV movie "King of the World" and the voice of Richard Nixon in "Forrest Gump."

3 In Other News  An ape at the Salt Lake City zoo has predicted the Carolina Panthers will win the Super Bowl. Zoo spokeswoman Erica Hansen says a 1-year-old orangutan named Tuah chewed up a cardboard Panthers sign and later kissed a papier-mache Panthers helmet. Hansen says he never touched the Denver Broncos sign or helmet. Hansen says Tuah's older sister gave Broncos fans hope when she entered the enclosure later and put the Broncos helmet on her head. The annual event occurred Thursday. Animals at the zoo have correctly predicted the Super Bowl winner eight straight years. This was Tuah's first time handling the duties. His dad picked seven straight winners before dying in 2015. A lion stepped in last year while Tuah was a baby and correctly picked the New England Patriots.  It's hard to know what was more amazing: An out-of-control car ending up on the roof of a Southern California house or the driver somehow escaping serious injury despite the wild ride. Palos Verdes Estates police Capt. Mark Velez says a driver with a medical problem lost control of his car on a residential street Wednesday. Velez tells the Daily Breeze that the man hit two parked cars, rolled up the driveway of a house, ricocheted off another car and was somehow sent skyward, ending up atop the detached garage of a neighboring house. Firefighters pulled the man from the car and took him to a hospital, but he wasn't seriously hurt. No one else was injured. Police got a crane to pull the car off the roof.
