2 The groups aims: “Occupy Wall Street is a leaderless resistance movement with people of many colors, genders and political persuasions. The one thing we all have in common is that We Are The 99% that will no longer tolerate the greed and corruption of the 1%. We are using the revolutionary Arab Spring tactic to achieve our ends and encourage the use of nonviolence to maximize the safety of all participants.”- Occupy website

3 History: The original protest was initiated by Kalle Lasn and Micah White of Adbusters, a Canadian anti-consumerist publication, who conceived of a September 17 occupation in Lower Manhattan in Zuccotti Park Started a worldwide movement against income inequality

4 Type: It is a Membership group Is a Group Rights Pressure Group

5 Membership: It is hard to get a figure for Occupies membership but it’s worldwide nature being in over 30 countries shows mass support. Benefits of membership are Solidarity, Purposive and material Costs could be considered personal safety risks after police treatment of protesters

6 Methods: Predominantly Direct Action. Occupying spaces near wealthy areas like Wall Street Does not use any other methods

7 Impact and Success Highlighting the issue of Income Inequality Perhaps leading to the rise of Bernie Sanders and his anti Wall Street message
