Doxology Praise God, from whom all blessings flow; Praise Him, all creatures here below; Praise Him above, ye heavenly host; Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.— Amen.

The Book of Proverbs Chapter 3 Prov 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your Heart, Pt. 5

II. Hindrances to Total (100%) Trust or Faith in the Lord.

A. Dread or Fear. Num 13:32-14:4 Fear leads to wanting to return to some form of prior, false security.

B. Delay or Hesitancy Ex 4:1 The opinions of opposition are irrelevant to the Lord, and should be to you too.

C. Disobedience Num 20:8-12 When God’s Word tells us to do one thing, yet we do another, we step outside of His Plan for our lives.

D. Doubt Mat 14:31 It creates indecision, insecurity, inhibition, instability, indifference, and indecisiveness.

E. Double Minded James 1:5-8 The split personality filled with cosmic viewpoint while also having some Divine viewpoint. Their life is spent in conflict.

F. Disbelief 2 Kings 17:14-16 Flat-out unbelief will hinder your desire and will to trust in the Lord.

Psa 78:32, “In spite of all this (Divine Discipline) they still sinned and did not believe in His wonderful works.”

Satan is a main cause of the unbeliever’s disbelief in Christ as Savior. Luke 8:12

Unbelief is saying in essence that you think God is a liar and His Word is untrue.

1 John 5:10, “The one who believes in the Son of God has the testimony in himself; the one who does not believe God has made Him a liar, (in their own mind), because he has not believed in the testimony that God has given concerning His Son.”

It causes you to reject the teaching of God’s Word. Psa 106:24-25

Rationalism and Empiricism cause many believers to disbelieve in the spiritual walk. John 20:25

Disbelief brings the reproach and Divine Discipline of God on to the believer. Mark 16:14; Luke 1:20

Disbelief hinders the blessings of God in your life. Mat 13:58; Mark 6:5-6

Disbelief results in fear in your life. Mark 4:35-41

Mark 4:40, “And He said to them, “Why are you afraid? How is it that you have no faith?””

Disbelief results in more disbelief. Heb 3:12-13

Disbelief results in the loss of the Faith Rest life. Heb 3:18-19

If you just flat out disbelieve what God’s Word tells you, you are never going to grow in spiritual maturity and come to the peace and contentment of the Faith Rest life.

Those of Satan’s Cosmic System reject God’s Word as truth. John 8:45; 10:26-27

John 10:26-27, “But you do not believe because you are not of My sheep. 27 My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.”

It is the ministry of the Holy Spirit to convict the lost of their unbelief. John 16:8-10

G. Distraction, is another cause of not trusting in the Lord that keeps you from doing your best for the Lord. Psa 55:1-8, 22-23

Having your eyes on the problem rather than on God and being Occupied with Christ will cause you to be distracted and outside of the Faith Rest life.

Running away from your problem(s) is no solution at all because no matter where you go you take your problems with you!

Distraction leads to having your eyes on the problem rather than God, which leads to fear, and fear leads to flight as a pseudo solution to your problems.

The only true solution is the Faith Rest life, being Occupied with the Person of Jesus Christ, applying the 11 PSD on the FLOT line of your soul. Psa 55:22-23; Mat 19:16-22; Luke 10:40-41

It is easy to get distracted by possessions, people, power, positions, popularity, prestige, and personal ambitions. God’s solution to distraction is to seek Him first.

Mat 6:33, “But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”
