2. Americans were very proud of their troops fighting over in Europe. People sang songs and gave money to support the war. Due to less men to farm, food was scarce. Even with the food shortage, food was needed to send over seas. People started planting war gardens to provide food for soldiers and people in their own town.

3. With many of the men off to war, women started taking over their jobs making weapons, tanks, and ammunition. African Americans in the north also started taking over jobs left by soldiers.

4. The draft was also reactivated. When a male of a certain age has his name call they are required by law to serve his country.
