Rope of Allah ? And hold fast, all together, by the rope of Allah and be not divided; and remember the favor of Allah which He bestowed upon you when you were enemies and He united your hearts in love, so that by His grace you came as brothers; and you were on the brink of a pit of fire and He saved you from it. Thus does Allah explain to you His commandments that you may be guided.

Why Khilafat ? As far as the Ummah is concerned, there is commandment in the Holy Quran to turn their faces towards Qiblah. For the Muslims throughout the world, there is one and only one Qiblah. You may go anywhere in the world, the Qiblah remains the same. This is a pointer that it is incumbent for the Muslim Ummah that they should be united under one Imam. Had this not been the sole purpose, there would have been no Khilafat at all because the spiritual condition of Muslims in the days of the Holy Prophet was a thousand times better than the Muslims of today. If they need to follow an Imam, how can we live without an Imam today when the condition of Muslims is crying for it. This is the answer why Khilafat is needed. Khalifatul Masih4th (ra) Liqa Ma’al Arab December 13 th, 1994

Importance of Unity! Muslims do understand its need as well as importance. This need was felt after the sad demise of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be on him) also. In Islam this is quite clear like broad daylight and is a part of Islamic teaching that without unity and harmony you cannot rightly work on the teachings of Islam. When you go to the mosque for Namaz five times a day, there must be an Imam. Standing behind an Imam is a demonstration of unity among people. That is why the Holy Quran especially emphasizes the need of congregational prayer. Imam is given so much importance that if the Imam falters, the entire congregation must follow his mistake even if they know that a mistake has been committed. What better instance can be presented for the need of an Imam and unity in his following? If Imam is mandatory in a small mosque, then how can the whole of Muslims Ummah survive without an Imam. Khaliftaul Masih 4 th (ra) Liqa Ma’al Arab December 13, 1994

Revelation of Promised Messiah (as) A revelation of the Promised Messiah (as) said ‘Hold fast to Unity, hold fast to Unity, O sons of Persia.’ (Tadhkirah, p. 64, 2009 edition). Sons of Persia does not only mean or signify his family, in fact the entire Jamaat comes under it in spiritual terms and thus this instruction is for the entire Jamaat. It is a matter of principle that in times of trouble man holds onto something special. It is stated here that hold onto Unity of God in times of troubles which carries everything. 7 Khilafah is a great Divine blessing. Without it there can be no solidarity, cohesion and unity among Muslims and therefore they can make no real progress without it. If Muslims do not show proper appreciation of Khilafat by giving un-stinted support and obedience to their Khalifahs they will forfeit this Divine boon and in addition will draw the displeasure of God upon themselves’’ In essence the key to attaining these high standards of existence is obedience to the Divinely appointed Khalifa ‘in all that is good’ which amounts to nothing less than obedience to Allah (sw) for surely He (sw) Says, ‘’O ye who believe! Obey Allah, and obey the Messenger and those charged with authority among you.’’ This message is reiterated in a famous Hadith where the Holy Prophet (saw) is narrated to have said, ’He who obeys me, obeys God; and he who disobeys me, disobeys God, And he who obeys the Ameer [i.e., the head of the state], obeys me; And he who disobeys the Ameer, disobeys me Khalifatul Masih 2 nd (ra)

Dream of an companion of promised Messiah (as) Ameer Khan sahib (ra) relates that in 1904 he saw a field in a dream. The field is fenced off by rows of trees. There is only one entrance to the field. A cow is trying to push its mouth through the gap between trees to get to the crop but cannot succeed. Ameer sahib realizes that just as the cow cannot succeed to get to the crop without finding the entrance to the field, similarly without finding the Promised Messiah (on whom be peace) one cannot find God. The Promised Messiah (on whom be peace) is like the entrance to the field and anyone who does not go through the door cannot find God.
