3. Changes in Treatment Has Promise for TBI Due to TBI receiving increasing media coverage over the past few years many new developments in TBI rehab/therapy are occurring. A new method involves near infrared light therapy (NILT). It has been proven to decrease symptoms related to headaches, anxiety, and depression as well as increasing cognitive functioning and overall quality of life in 10 TBI patients.

4. How Does It Work? A Class IV, pulsed-light lased is used to penetrate the skin and skull to repair damaged cells in the brain. As more research is done this treatment will be made more widely available to be used to treat TBI with a combination of other traditional therapies.
