Spanking Kids: A Proper Punishment? By: Dashiell Samoy

Problem : Your out with your son/daughter in a crowded mall, when he/she starts misbehaving. You try to tell him/her to stop it, but to no avail, your kid keeps on acting bad. You threaten to give him a spanking if he/she doesn’t stop acting bad. Your kid keeps on going. If a verbal action isn’t working, is it time to go toward a physical action? On one hand you don’t people to think that you hit your child, on the other, you don’t want your kid growing up with the idea that he/she could do whatever they want without consequence. Should you spank your child?

To Spank… It will get your child to pay attention to you right away. It will teach your child to respect you and the rules that you have placed. If anybody else is present, it will show others that you will do what’s necessary when your child acts bad. It will make a child second guess him/herself to misbehave, with the threat of a spanking in their mind.

…Or Not To Spank The child will learn that hitting someone is OK when angry or frustrated. Using Physical aggression is normal and acceptable under any circumstances. Your child will learn that It's okay to hit another person. Your child will be emotionally scarred after getting physically punished.

Thoughts & Conclusion Personal Experiences: Raised with it…A Lot. Personal Opinion: Against It. If you don't spank... Two Extremes: If you do spank…
