2 Deconstruct the insides and the context of the school Every school has a distinct DNA- resources, capacity and context Analyze data, gather knowledge and Observe  Current status  Goals in Shared Vision  Gaps to be filled for actualization of Vision In terms of- Infrastructure, Children’s age appropriate needs and Background, Teacher’s competencies, School capacity through learning, Teaching Learning in Class Rooms, Networking for growth, Forging partnerships with parents and community and liasioning with support agencies and system

3 Challenges faced by Head of school are: A)Physical Environment-Building and Infrastructure- availability, adequacy and functionality B) Human related- Beliefs and assumptions Roles and responsibilities Understanding Level of Engagement Vision Learning on the Job Intra Sharing for collective growth Alignment of personal and institutional Goals C)Linkages/partnerships with parents and community; System and Environment

4 Understanding needed for school Leadership Analyze, strategize to catalyze the schools momentum  In flux demands and responsibilities owing to the role  Taking Responsibility leads to learning  Regular build up of competencies needed  Reflection and inward looking- change has to come from within  Schools are organic and social organizations  Schools need to be looked at in a 3 D perspective/ holistic vision  Human being are the only organic resource  Principles of Adult Learning Thus, one has to be: Human centric Growth centric System centric Through reflection, collaboration, networking and partnerships

5 Building Learning Networks with On-site inter and intra support Across subjects-Inter disciplinary approach for Designing assessments/assignments Vertical sharing- Grade and subject wise Horizontal sharing-Grade and Subject wise

6  Role modeling builds a Transparent culture seen in Behaviour, work, values and ethics.  Engage in all activities with Teachers and students-insight, reality check- find gaps for support and growth  Create, fortify, redesign Organic Spaces for Sharing, Learning and Problem Solving with Plastic Structures  Collaborative and flat approach to Problem Solving – Fatter Decision making  Develop relationships based on trust  Have ‘Porous’ Boundaries to forge partnerships
