1. Unfortunately the Lusitania sank on May 7 th 1915. One day the ship was coming from New York, going to Liverpool. The captain was told to go to Queenstown, Cobh, instead of continuing to Liverpool. This was because of submarine activity. The submarine had three torpedoes. One of them hit the Lusitania, causing an explosion.

2. After the first explosion, a second one went off. Some people say it was the coal in the bottom of the ship. Courtmacsherry Lifeboat was alerted, but since it was such a calm day 15 men had to row without a sail. The kezia Gwilt got there too late but some people had been saved. THE RESCUE
