2. The Nature of Oral and Written Presentational Communication
A student gives an oral or multimedia presentation to an audience.
A student prepares a written message/text/product for an audience.
Oral, multimedia, and written presentations are prepared in advance and may require research as part of the preparation.
A student may do the presentation while reading from a script, while glancing at notes, or may deliver a pre-planned talk spontaneously.

3. Types of Oral and Written Presentational Communication
Descriptive – Describing something
Narrative – Telling a story
Demonstrative – Explaining how to do something
Explanatory – Providing evidence or justifying why something is as it is
Transformative – Persuading an audience to adopt our point of view or to rethink an idea

4. Examples of the different types of presentational communication
Descriptive
Have students pretend that they are on a trip. They are writing a postcard to a friend back home. They are to describe what the scenery looks
like where they are.

5. Examples of the different types of presentational communication
Narrative
Have students write an outline of the main events of their trip and present them to another class via a multimedia presentation.
Demonstrative
Have students demonstrate via a skit how to properly buckle an airplane seat belt.

6. Examples of the different types of presentational communication
Explanatory
Have students explain the procedures involved in getting to go on the trip. They are to submit a written plan detailing the procedures.
Transformative
Have students prepare a written advertising brochure/poster in which they try to convince others to take a trip to the place to which they traveled.
