You will find a majority of commercial farming in Mid Lattitude climates. Why? Canada Settlement patterns are heavily influenced by its proximity to water. What is the importance of water to a growing population? To its economy? What do you see on the map that shows you that Canada has less vegetative zones than the U.S. The Central region of Canada has a subartic climate with daily temperatures ranging between 30 and 70 degrees. It is covered with coniferous forest and the primary economic activities are foresty, commercial farming, and hunting and gathering. Based on these facts what climatic condition might exists to support such activities.

Based on the map where did early French settlers set up colonies in Canada? What on the map shows you were the French settled.

Day 2 Review Urban communities tend to focus on secondary, tertiary, and quaternary economic activities such as manufacturing, services, and civic programs. In rural areas there tends to be a focus on primary economic activities based upon agrarian agricultural traditions

With agriculture being the main focus of rural economies advances in agricultural technology has been responsible for more efficient production of crops. Also rural communities tend to be centered around farmlands. The farther you go up in elevation air pressure and temperature decrease.

10,000 years ago Asians came across The Beringia Land Bridge following their food as hunters and gatherers. Some asiatic tribes went further south over years, but many remained in Northern Canada and are called the Inuit which are Native American Indians ( falsely called Indians)

Modifying the Environment Both the United States and Canada have modified their environments by building dams and reservoirs to provide the following in many rural areas Inexpensive electricity Recreation

Earth Quakes Zone The U.S is located on the North American Continental plate except for some of the west coast of California which located on the Pacific Oceanic Plate. Where the North American continental Plate and the Pacific Oceanic plate meet is known as the San Andreas Fault which often times results in earth Quakes.

Westward Expansion Much like the westward expansion in the U.S. Canadians also moved west to gain access to natural resources. Expansion can also be a result of Push factors such as Lack of Career opportunities Natural disasters Famine Etc…

Urbanization In less developed countries you will see a smaller population of people in Urban areas primarily because less developed countries tend to focus on primary economic activities. Where more develop countries tend to focus on Secondary, tertiary, and quaternary economic activities.

Development of Public Policy

US and Canadian region The United States and Canada are united as a region by the following Location Trade Religion Mexico is not considered a part of that region because it is distinct due to the language. Canada and the US share a common ancestrial history and language.

NAFTA Canada the United States and Mexico all are apart of the North American Free Trade Act. Although the US and Canada share the same English Heritage, Great Britain is not apart of that Economic Region. North America Also has the greatest amount of Quaternary Economic Activity

The Colombian Exchange Although the Colombian Exchange occurred among Africa, Latin America, North America, and Europe it had a lasing effect on Latin America as evidence by the African Cultural influence in Latin America. Music Dance

A significant environmental challenge to developing nations in South America is deforestation. The Incas modified their environment by employing terrace farming. The Inter Tropical Convergence Zone which is located about 5 degrees North and South of the Equator is where air rise with out blowing in any direction. The still rising air is known as doldrums.

Many modern era jobs have come to this area of southern Central America as a result of urbanization, transportation, and economic activities associated with the Panama Canal, built by the United States in the early 1900s, and controlled by the United States until 1999.

Some of the heaviest rain on earth occurs when trade winds converge in the inter tropical convergence zone. A group of people has ethnocentric cultural perceptions when they believe that their cultural values are more important than others. This is usually because they view cultural characteristics through a specific cultural lens Ethnocentric Cultural lens

1. Formal Region 2. Functional Region 3. Perceptual Region A central area connected to others by transportation, communication, or economic activity A subjective image created by people's thoughts and feelings about an area. An area that shares common human or physical characteristics.

Latin America divides into these four specific regions. Mexico, Central America, the Caribbean Islands South America

Nazca plate and the South American plate are converging which causes a subduction of the land on the western side of the South American plate due to the converging of the Pacific Plate.

climate, extreme cold in the southern tip, and location of rivers and waterways in the north is one of the main reasons why cities are place in the Northern part of the country. Argentina and Chile Share a Natural Border of Mountains Also most of Argentina’s largest cities are located in the Northern part of the country.

Haitai The millions of pounds of food sent to Haiti after the earthquake undercut local farmers, who could not compete and were driven out of jobs and into poverty
