6 Processes and Procedures We incorporated a lot of HOT questions in order to keep the students engaged. We also allowed wait time for the students to think about their answers to the HOT questions. Tickets out the door were used for the math lesson to formally check what the students learned. We also used proximity. We walked around to groups that were misbehaving or talking more in order to quiet them down and get them back on track.

7 Child made Artifacts Characterization worksheets Students had to write down character traits of the main character in the story. They also drew pictures of the main character on the back of the worksheet.

8 What I learned I learned that I need to slow down when I am instructing. I went to fast through my lesson and had too much time left over. I also learned that children love food. We brought them king cake and used it as a reward at the end of the lesson if they were good. This really helped them participate in the lesson and pay attention.
