draft-kompella-ospf- multiaccess-te-00.txt OSPF WG ‘58 Kireeti Kompella Juniper

Why? OSPF TE doesn’t model multi-access links very well And says so in section 1.2

Pretty Picture ABCD EFG A X B F CD G E X = DR = G 100M

Is This Interesting? We don’t do this well (putting it mildly) Switches are increasingly a common router interconnect It’s fairly trivial to get this right

Solution Each router already advertises available bandwidth towards the DR Proposal: each router should also advertise available bandwidth from the DR Backward compatible Couple of modes – switched (full, half-duplex) and unswitched

Next Steps SPs: tell the WG if this is a burning issue, a potential issue you see coming, or a non-issue Vendors: tell the WG if this is a reasonable solution Backward compatible? Easy to implement? Willing to do implement and interop?
