 Brings the paper to a close.  It doesn’t have to be very long, 3-4 sentences are enough.  It does need to be powerful. It is the last thing your reader will see and often what the reader remembers most.

 Use first person.  Add anything new to the conclusion.

 Start with a general statement about rules. ◦ This could be something similar to what you said in your introduction.  Then add a sentence about your specific rules. ◦ Why your organization needs rules. ◦ A summary of your rules, or the most important ones.  Finish with something memorable to leave your reader with a lasting impression. ◦ Think of it almost like another hook, but now it’s the finish.

1. Rent is due in full on the first day of the month. 2. Household expenses will be divided equally among all parties and payable in full on the 20 th of each month. 3. Each person is responsible for cleaning their own space weekly and one additional common room. 4. Each person will be responsible for cooking for one week out of each month and for cleaning the kitchen one week out of each month. On weekends each person does his own meal and cleans up afterward. 5. During the summer months yardwork will be shared by all parties on a rotating basis. 6. Guests are welcome but household members must give the other parties one day notice. 7. Everyone will respect each other’s privacy and property.

 General statement about rules. ◦ Although many people may not like rules, rules are necessary to keep the world functioning and in order.  Then add a sentence or two about your specific rules. ◦ Houses, especially houses with roommates, need rules to keep the house clean, to make sure the house is financially sound, and to keep the roommates friends.  Finish with something memorable to leave your reader with a lasting impression. ◦ House rules keep a house in order, and they just might keep a friendship in order as well.
