Maryland’s Watershed Assistance Collaborative Maryland’s Watershed Assistance Collaborative What is it? The Collaborative is a consortium of Maryland State Agencies, NGOs and private partners joined together to provide services and technical assistance to local governments to advance implementation projects. The Collaborative is helping to ensure that local partners have the tools and resources they need to succeed.

Maryland’s Watershed Assistance Collaborative Maryland’s Watershed Assistance Collaborative Watershed Assistance Grant Program Over $1.1 million given directly to locals for planning and design grants. The grant program is open twice a year and is capped at $35,000 for planning and design projects. Eligible recipients include: Local governments and NGOs

Maryland’s Watershed Assistance Collaborative Maryland’s Watershed Assistance Collaborative Financing Strategies & Stakeholder Development Financing strategies have been developed for the Middle Chester and Sassafras Watersheds. The Environmental Finance Center provides outreach and workshops designed to shape a sustainable financing strategy based on priority implementation projects.

Maryland’s Watershed Assistance Collaborative Maryland’s Watershed Assistance Collaborative Regional Watershed Restoration Specialists A total of five Watershed Restoration Specialists (three existing and two in hiring process) to provide “on-the- ground” personnel to locals to accelerate pollution reduction efforts. The Specialists cover a large area of Maryland. Western Shore (Western, Central and Southern); Eastern Shore (Central and Lower).

Maryland’s Watershed Assistance Collaborative Maryland’s Watershed Assistance Collaborative Stormwater Financing & Outreach Unit The SFOU was created to help local governments create strategies for financing stormwater management. The SFOU is committed to working with up to two communities per year and will also hold a series of workshops for municipal stormwater managers throughout the State. New!

Maryland’s Watershed Assistance Collaborative Maryland’s Watershed Assistance Collaborative Citizen Engagement - WSA A new partnership was formed between UMD Extension, WSA and the Watershed Assistance Collaborative to transfer the WSA State-wide. Bringing the WSA and its skilled volunteers is critical to the success of accelerated watershed restoration. New!
