Welcome & Introduction. Ms. Fiona Dowling, Executive Director, Comber Foundation, Ireland. Dr. Barry Coughlan, Assistant Director of Clinical Psychology, University of Limerick, Ireland.

Context & Background.  Irish Research Council for the Humanities & Social Sciences (IRCHSS).  New Ideas Scheme (November 2011) – Award granted in December  Built upon existing “Knowledge Exchange Programme” funded by the IRCHSS (Coughlan et al., 2010).

Key Principles.  Collaboration & Partnership.  All working towards a common purpose:  Community Integration/Deinstitutionalisation.  Inclusion.  Improving QoL & outcomes for persons with intellectual disability.  Importance of an “integrated approach” to this work.

Key Messages.  What lessons have we learned from our practice?  What is the evidence & outcome research telling us?  How does this shape our future practice?
