What is an FTZ? The Foreign-Trade Zones Act was created to "expedite and encourage foreign commerce" in the United States. This tariff and tax relief is designed to lower the costs of U.S.-based operations engaged in international trade and thereby create and retain the employment and capital investment opportunities that result from those operations.

FTZ # Data: Over 300 firms utilize FTZs, employing 1,500 regular employees 6 sites are activated Foreign-Trade Zones FTZ9 oversees 13 sites in Hawaii – 2,600 acres designated FTZs 75% of all exports out of Hawaii went through FTZ9. $12.5 Billion in total merchandise/ $800 Million of that was exported.
