River Valley Civilizations Why do you think these were the first four civilizations in the world?

Some cool Geography of China facts China: 3rd largest country, next to Russia and Canada China & Us close in size China: 3,691,500 sq. miles, US 3,678,900 sq. miles Most populated country in the world. China 26% live in urban areas US 75% urban areas

China & the U.S. are close in size, however, the population of China is much larger than the U.S.

China’s population exceeds the population of all these countries combined populations EUROPE, SOUTH AMERICA, JAPAN, and the UNITED STATES

China feeds about 25% of the worlds population on 7% arable land. *The US has 80% more farmland than China does, however only 3% are involved in farming. They have a population explosion… part of the reason for their One Child Policy

What is a modern response the Chinese have done to stop this flooding? Three Gorges Project: +:Largest dam project in the world. Most expensive to date. Provides China with electrical power equal to 10 nuclear power plants.
