You will “ride” in the “Food Safety Mobile”, answering questions about food safety along the way. When finished, write a response to the game on page 30 in your student packet. Be sure to include and support your opinions with details, and to include specific information you found the game.

Where can I learn more about food safety and food-borne diseases? Internet Task #3: Use any of the nine online resources that follow to find out more. Organize your information on pgs 31 & 32 in your student packet, and be prepared to share it with the class.

1. National Food Safety Initiative 2. CDC's Food Safety Initiative home page 3. U.S. Food and Drug Administration

4. U.S. Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) 5. U.S. Environmental Protection Agency 6. Government Food Safety Information

7. Food Safety Training and Education Alliance 8. Foodborne Illness Information Center foodborne/foodborne/wais.shtml 9. National Food Safety Education Month september.html

Food Safety Final Activity Now that you are an expert on keeping food safe, your final activity is to share your expertise with students in another grade. You will work with a partner to “teach” younger students the points on the next slide. You will have one copy of a Food Safety Coloring Book and a set of crayons for each student in your “class”. A copy of the coloring book is here and in hard copy for your reference. Step 1 - Meet with your partner to “plan” your “lesson”. Write your plan in your student packet on page 33. Step 2 - Implement your plan with younger kids so that they complete and keep their coloring book Step 3 - Reflect on your lesson and results in your student packet on page How did it go? Easy? Hard? Successful? Beneficial? Fun? Make Changes? Why?
