we shall be trying to find out the answer of … WHAT IS THE ‘ENGINEERING’ BEHIND IT?

FLUID POWER History of Fluid Power: Water was used to produce power by means of water wheels....

FLUID POWER Air was used to turn Windmills…. History of Fluid Power:

FLUID POWER And to propel the ships…. History of Fluid Power:

FLUID POWER Fluid power technology actually began in 1650 with the discovery of Pascal’s law. Blaise Pascal 19 June 1623 – 19 August 1662 History of Fluid Power:

FLUID POWER Brahmah’s Hydraulic Press 1796 Joseph Brahmah 13 April 1748 [1] – 9 December 1814 [1] History of Fluid Power:

FLUID POWER Fluid applications were made as the main armament system of USS Virginia in History of Fluid Power:

WHAT IS FLUID POWER? Fluid power is the technology that deals with the generation, control and transmission of forces and movement of mechanical element or system with the use of pressurized fluids in a confined system.

WHAT IS FLUID POWER? It is a system where work is obtained by pressurized fluid acting directly on a fluid cylinder or a fluid motor.  A cylinder produces a force resulting in linear motion, whereas  A fluid motor produces a torque resulting in rotary motion.

Application of FLUID POWER? It is used to control virtually all the machines of modern industry.

APPLICATIONS Fluid power applications can be classified into two major segments: Stationary hydraulics: Stationary hydraulic systems remain firmly fixed in one position. Mobile hydraulics: Mobile hydraulic systems move on wheels or tracks such as a tower crane or excavator truck to operate in many different locations or while moving.

APPLICATIONS Stationary hydraulics: Production and assembly of vehicles

APPLICATIONS Stationary hydraulics: Machine tools & transfer lines

APPLICATIONS Stationary hydraulics: Lifting and conveying devices

APPLICATIONS Stationary hydraulics: Metal-forming presses.

APPLICATIONS Stationary hydraulics: Plastic machinery such as injection-molding machines

APPLICATIONS Stationary hydraulics: Rolling machines

APPLICATIONS Stationary hydraulics: Hydraulic Lifts

APPLICATIONS Stationary hydraulics: Hydraulic Food processing machinery

APPLICATIONS Stationary hydraulics: Hydraulic Food processing unit

APPLICATIONS HYDRAULIC CHAIN SAW CHAIN SAW for CUTTING CONCRETE Pneumatic Drilling Machine TEETH Drilling Machine

APPLICATIONS Mobile hydraulics: Construction Machinery

APPLICATIONS Mobile hydraulics: Construction Machinery

APPLICATIONS Mobile hydraulics: Tippers

APPLICATIONS Mobile hydraulics: Industrial Lift Truck

APPLICATIONS Mobile hydraulics: Elevating platforms

APPLICATIONS Mobile hydraulics: Mobile Cranes

APPLICATIONS Mobile hydraulics: Agricultural machinery

APPLICATIONS Mobile hydraulics:

APPLICATIONSAPPLICATIONS Construction Mining Agriculture Waste Reduction Utility Equipment Marine Offshore Energy Metal Forming Machine Tools Military & Aerospace Other Applications

Today’s Fluid Power: IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND A MANUFACTURED PRODUCT THAT HAS NOT BEEN ‘FLUID POWERED’ IN SOME WAY AT SOME STAGE OF ITS PRODUCTION - DISTRIBUTION.

FLUID POWER COMPONENTS: HYDRAULIC: - A TANK - A PUMP - VALVES (to control Direction, Flow, Pressure) - ACTUATORS - PIPING & FITTINGS PNEUMATIC: - A COMPRESSOR - AN AIR TANK - VALVES - ACTUATORS - PIPING & FITTINGS

Thank You …
