THE GIFT OF ADMINISTRATION What you think it is.

THE SPIRITUAL GIFT OF ADMINISTRATION What it really is. Team Leader Goal Setter Problem Solver

ADMINISTRATIVE CHARACTERISTICS -Organized -Efficient -Self-starter -Motivated -Helpful -Unique perspective

ADMINISTRATOR: THE PROBLEM SOLVER “We’re having a tough time getting first-time guests to come a second and third time. How can we more efficiently reach them?” “Our budget can only accommodate to pay one person extra at the church. How can we get our congregation more involved with volunteering?” “The Sunday morning service attendance has begun to drop. Can we figure out why?” “We want to reach the people in our community. What are some good ways to do that?” “How can we save time and money during this construction process?” “How do we make ourselves more connected with other local youth groups?”

ADMINISTRATOR: THE GOAL SETTER It’s our goal to set up a first-time guest team and reach our first-time guest audience in the next two months. We will choose a volunteer director and have them begin a volunteer training track, which will begin in March. Through personal phone calls and congregation cards, we will find out what is making our morning attendance drop. Conduct outreaches to designated community areas by the end of the year. Have a team decide on budget saving ideas to be introduced in three weeks. Have a brain storming session to make our group more accessible.

ADMINISTRATOR: THE TEAM LEADER A first-time guest team is created and implemented. Guests are greeted at the door, receive free food after service, receive a letter during the week and a personal phone call from the pastor. The CORE Team Track was put in place – a training class during Sunday School time that lasts five weeks. After the five weeks, volunteers are put on a schedule in the area of their choice and put into ministry! Call and personally ask missing guests what need is missing to where they haven’t returned. Poll the church through an online survey blasted on social media on what they feel will improve the church. Tally the results and implement the changes. Get a list of volunteers for each outreach. Make the event exciting for them with food, fellowship and more. Connect those in the community with the first-time guest team. Look at various prices and materials for construction. Compare everything. See where cuts can be made. Send letters to team up with other youth groups for events. Connect through social media. Have meet and greets with other youth pastors. Visit churches to get new perspectives.

ADMINISTRATOR: SCRIPTURES 1 Corinthians 12: "All of you together are Christ’s body, and each of you is a part of it. 28 Here are some of the parts God has appointed for the church: first are apostles, second are prophets, third are teachers, then those who do miracles, those who have the gift of healing, those who can help others, those who have the gift of leadership, those who speak in unknown languages." NLT 1 Corinthians 14:40- "But be sure that everything is done properly and in order." NLT

ADMINISTRATOR: SCRIPTURES Acts 6:1-7 - "But as the believers rapidly multiplied, there were rumblings of discontent. The Greek-speaking believers complained about the Hebrew- speaking believers, saying that their widows were being discriminated against in the daily distribution of food. So the Twelve called a meeting of all the believers. They said, 'We apostles should spend our time teaching the word of God, not running a food program. And so, brothers, select seven men who are well respected and are full of the Spirit and wisdom. We will give them this responsibility. Then we apostles can spend our time in prayer and teaching the word.' Everyone liked this idea, and they chose the following: Stephen (a man full of faith and the Holy Spirit), Philip, Procorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas, and Nicolas of Antioch (an earlier convert to the Jewish faith). These seven were presented to the apostles, who prayed for them as they laid their hands on them. So God’s message continued to spread. The number of believers greatly increased in Jerusalem, and many of the Jewish priests were converted, too." NLT

ADMINISTRATOR: SCRIPTURES Genesis 41:41, "So Pharaoh said to Joseph, 'I hereby put you in charge of the whole land of Egypt.'…During the seven years of abundance the land produced plentifully. Joseph collected all the food produced in those seven years of abundance in Egypt and stored it in the cities. In each city he put the food grown in the fields surrounding it. Joseph stored up huge quantities of grain, like the sand of the sea; it was so much that he stopped keeping records because it was beyond measure." NIV

ASSIGNMENT Here’s the problem. Solve it. Set a goal. Make a plan on how to lead a team. You attend an average sized church of 200 people. Attendance is high and people consistently volunteer. The one problem? You can’t get people to give to “extra” things – meaning to outreaches/events/goals outside of tithes and offering. What do you suggest?
