Welcome Back! Please Take a Seat Geometry Ms. Sanguiliano

Learning Goals Students Will Be Able To: Solve an equation for x Determine the area and perimeter of a rectangle and square Determine the area and circumference of a circle Use the Pythagorean Theorem to discover the missing side of the triangle Find the slope and the length of a line through 2 points Distinguish the difference between supplementary and complementary angles

Do Now Solve Each Equation for x (Similar to Problems #1-5 in the summer packet):

Perimeter and Area For questions 6-7, you needed to find the perimeter and area of a square and rectangle Perimeter: Area of Rectangle: Area of Square: Add up all of the sides (Length) X (Width) (Side) X (Side)

Perimeter and Area Example Find the perimeter of a rectangle with length 6 inches and width of 7 inches. Find the area of a square with side length of 8 centimeters.

Circumference and Area For questions 8-9, you needed to find the circumference and area of a circle. Circumference: Area: πd or 2πr πr 2

Circumference and Area Example Find the area of a circle with a radius of 7 centimeters.

Pythagorean Theorem For questions 10-12, you needed to use the Pythagorean Theorem to find the length of the missing side. Pythagorean Theorem: a c b a 2 + b 2 = c 2

Pythagorean Theorem Example Find the length of the missing side. 9 in 12 in x

Slope For questions and 22, you needed to find the slope of the line containing to points. Slope: y 2 – y 1 x 2 – x 1

Slope Example Find the slope of the line containing (3, 5) & (6, 10).

Complementary vs. Supplementary Angles For question 15-16, you need to be able to tell the difference between complementary and supplementary angles. Complementary angles add up to: Supplementary angles add up to: 90° 180°

Finding the Lengths of the Sides of a Quadrilateral For question 23, you needed to find the lengths of all 4 sides of the quadrilateral. What formula needs to be used to find the length of the side? Distance Formula:

Distance Example Find the distance between 2 points: (3, 5) & (6, 9).
