CORK CELLS UNDER A MICROSCOPE Robert Hooke-1 st cells observed under microscope!

ANIMAL CELL & STRUCTURES

PLANT CELL & STRUCTURES

DIFFUSION Passive transport = no energy needed A lot of dye molecules A little or no dye molecules in water Dye molecules diffused in water all around Passive transport = no energy needed

DIFFUSION AND OSMOSIS Plants in salt water: Osmosis = diffusion of water across a membrane (see difference in plant cells)

CELLS MAKE UP ORGANISMS Cells make up tissues (sheets of cells) Different tissues make up organs (enclosed areas in with specific jobs—like the heart or skin) Many organs work together as an organ system (such as the digestive system) Organ systems rely on each other The circulatory system brings food traveling through your blood from the digestive system to other parts of the body All of this is going inside an organism (YOU are an organism!)

FOUR TYPES OF ANIMAL TISSUES 1.Muscle Tissue

FOUR TYPES OF ANIMAL TISSUES 2. Nervous Tissue No, not this kind of tissue
