Christmas Bowl Protects Refugees - Thai-Burma Border TBBC provides services for more than 140,000 Burmese refugees It costs $100 to provide food for a month to a family of four living in a refugee camp.

The challenge of feeding Burma’s refugees will continue well into 2009 and food prices are set to increase.

“I said to the people in my village to take shelter in the church. We stayed there throughout the night and listened to the cyclone. When we came out in the morning, everything was gone”. - Cyclone Survivor Saw Ler Lah said,

"When I was a child, my father was forced to work as portier for the Burmese soldiers. He was shot dead when he tried to flee. I lived with my uncle and one day, Burmese soldiers came to punish us because we were growing rice outside the village. I escaped through the jungle and crossed the border. When I came to the camp, I went to the clinic for medical check up, and received food and a blanket. Now here in the camp, I hope to teach in one of the schools.“ – Maya, Burmese Refugee

Bring your peace to this world, a peace we cannot make ourselves. Awaken the consciousness of all peoples and their leaders, raise up those who can speak and act for peace, and show us new ways in which hatred can be left behind, wounds can be healed, and unity restored.
