Carnivore, Herbivore, Omnivore, Scavengers and Decomposers . Herbivores Omnivores Carnivores Test Yourself Next

Herbivores Herbivores are animals that eat ONLY plants. They need a lot of energy to stay alive. Many have to eat all day long to get enough energy. Some herbivores have a special digestive system so they are able to eat grasses. Let’s see what type of animals are herbivores. Next

Manatee A manatee is a mammal that lives in the water. They are herbivores. They eat 150 pounds of plants each day! Manatees live in ocean waters off the coast of Florida. Next Previous slide

A rhinoceros eats grass, leaves, twigs and shrubs. Next Previous slide

Cattle eat grass and hay. Next Previous slide

Deer eat corn, twigs, shoots, acorns, fruit, berries, and green plants. Next Previous slide

A giraffe lives in Africa and eats leaves from trees A giraffe lives in Africa and eats leaves from trees. They especially like the leaves of the Arcadia tree. A giraffe may eat 75 pounds of food each day. Next Previous slide

Rabbits eat grasses, weeds, leaves, shoots, twigs, and bark. Next Previous slide

Sheep eat grass and hay. Next Previous slide

Carnivores A carnivore is an animal that gets its food from eating other animals. They are also called a “meat eater”. What kind of animals are carnivores? Next Previous slide

Lions eat other animals such as gazelles, antelopes, and zebras. Next Previous slide

Eagles eat fish, mammals, birds, and snakes. They love fish! Next Previous slide

A wolf eats deer, dogs, fish, mice, moose, birds, and other herbivores. Next Previous slide

Spiders eat insects. Next Previous slide

A frog eats insects, earthworms, and spiders. Next Previous slide

Let’s explore some omnivores! Omnivores are animals that eat both plants and other animals. Many will eat the eggs of other animals. Some omnivores are scavengers which means they eat dead animals. Most will eat plants that produce fruit and vegetables. They also eat the fruit and vegetables. Let’s explore some omnivores! Next Previous slide

A pig eats fruit, eggs, corn, and earthworms. Next Previous slide

A grizzly bear usually eat things such as grasses, roots, berries, insects, fish, and small and large mammals. Next Previous slide

A raccoon eats almost anything including berries, acorns, baby mice, baby birds & eggs, frogs, fish, and even some snakes. Next Previous slide

Last but not least – Humans are omnivores! Next Previous slide

These animals are Scavengers. Animals eat dead animals or carrion.  Next

These animals are Decomposers. These organisms help to break down organic matter. Next
