Who are we? Three research institutions –Norwegian University of Science and Technology, Norway (NTNU) –University of Oslo/Simula Research Laboratory –SINTEF Norwegian IT industry (25-30 companies through the last 6 years)

What have we done? The general position has been to downscale and make applicable approaches from several SPI frameworks, in particular QIP and TQM, and to apply these in concrete development projects called pilots (company projects) Our target group has mainly been SMEs, but also development departmets in large companies

Project model PlanCheck Development/implementation project Do Next company project Common projects (generalising) Company project (pilot project) Act Dissemination

The Norwegian SPI projects : SPIQ Software Process Improvement for better Quality : PROFIT PROcess improvement For IT industry : SPIKE Software Process Improvement based on Knowledge and Experience –focus on context dependent methodologies incremental and evolutionary methods including lightweight methods and RUP object oriented analysis and design electronic process guides knowledge management estimation and project steering – how to manage evolutionary projects

SPIKE PROFIT and SPIKE include a large international component –Cooperation with ESERNET, an EU-supported project –Cooperation with Fraunhofer Institute –Cooperation with University of Maryland –Several other international contacts with both companies and research institutions
