It is a symmetric design which can fit together in a repetitive pattern. These fill a surface, usually a 2D plane, without gaps or overlaps.

Look around the classroom for examples of repeated patterns in clothing, pencils, floor tile, notebook covers, etc…

Escher ( ) As the pioneer for this art form he is famous for his tessellation art and is one of the most famous graphic artists. Escher was interested in architecture, geometry and fantasy.
