 Outer and inner membranes.  Granum-closed compartments of stacked membranes.  Granum contain disk-like structures known as thylakoids.  Thylakoid surface has light-capturing photosynthetic pigment.  Lumen- inner thylakoid  Stroma-fluid surrounding thylakoid, contains glucose synthesizing enzymes

 Make food for the organism.  Absorb sunlight for photosynthesis.  Photosynthesis- process where carbon dioxide, sunlight and water are used to make ATP and NADPH for energy  Oxygen is a byproduct of photosynthesis
