He would use *light and paint his native land in Spain. Born: February 27, 1863 – Died: August 10, 1923 Painted: Portraits, Landscapes & Monuments of social and historical themes. *Subjects in his paintings were people and landscapes. Why He Painted: Sad Inheritance Focused on sadness and pain Shows a monk trying to help children with polio. The polio epidemic in Spain Naturally shows light and landscape Art Style: * Social Realism Painted on a large oil canvas Light and bright color
