Presentation transcript:

One day Moses was out taking care of his father-in-law’s sheep in the middle of the desert. While walking along talking to the sheep, since there was no one else to talk to, Moses noticed a bush that was on fire.

He stopped to watch the bush because there was something that wasn’t quite right. The bush was on fire, but it wasn’t burning up. So Moses decided to go a little closer to the bush God noticed he was there and called out to him. “Moses! Moses!” And Moses said, “Here I am.”

God told him not to come any closer with his sandals on because he was walking on holy ground. God told him that he was the God of all the great men that had come before him. Moses was scared and he hid his face because he was afraid to look at God.

God continued to talk to Moses and to tell him that he knew his people in Egypt needed help. God wanted Moses to go to the Pharaoh and tell Pharaoh to let God’s people leave Egypt. God was going to lead them into a new land that was set aside just for them.

But Moses didn’t think he could do the job God wanted him to do. Moses asked God, “Who am I, that I should go to Pharaoh and bring Your people out of Egypt?” God told Moses he would be with him. Moses still didn’t think that anyone would believe him.

God told Moses he would send signs with you. “What is that in your hand Moses?” asked God. “A staff,” Moses replied. God told him to throw it on the ground and when he did it became a snake. Moses was scared of the snake and jumped back. God told him to then pick up the snake by the tail and when Moses did, it turned back into his staff.

God showed Moses a few other things he would do to convince the Pharaoh to let His people out of Egypt. Even after all the things God showed Moses, he still didn’t think he could do the job God wanted him to do. God got mad at Moses and finally God told Moses to take his brother Aaron with him. “But make sure you take your staff with you so you can perform the miraculous signs with it.” God told him.
