Coral reefs are made of tiny animals called coral polyps

You can find coral reefs at the east of Africa, off the southern cost of India, in the Red Sea, and off the coast of north east and north west Australia. Coral reefs develop in shallow water between 70 and 80 degrees.

Fringing reefs are reefs that form along the coast line. Barrier reefs grow parallel to shore lines

The largest Coral Reef in the world The great Barrier Reef (off the coast of NE Australia) is the largest Coral Reef in the world. It is over 1,257 miles. (2000 km) long

This is the Great Barrier Reef in Australia

An Animal In My Biome

This is a coral reef colane

You may not see any fishes but there are about 1,000 tiny fish living here

An example of elk horn coral

This is a coral reef food web

This is a picture of coral reef water

This a nudibranch. They only live on the bottom of the ocean. They eat plankton. Some nudibranches are so small you can’t see them.

This is a coral hill. Most reefs form flat on the floor.

This is dead coral. Millions of coral are dying because of water pollution.

Clown fish live in here to protect themselves from sharks or fish that eat them. This home stings animals that try to eat it.But the clown fish have mucus that helps them not get electrocuted.

This parrot fish is colorful so it can camouflage with the Coral

This is a grouper. It eats crabs and small sharks. Grouper fish live up to 35 years old.

Thank you for watching.
