Final Exam Vocab Review Activity Spanish 1

Instructions 1. Pretest(show the slides and click through, students number their papers and write down the word in spanish or as much as they can) 2. Students grade their own paper as you give the answer to the vocab(some may vary but tell them a specific one)-I went through the final and specifically put words from there) 3. Students create color coded co-op cards. They each make a set of the flashcards for the vocabulary he/she missed. Use a different color pen/pencil than who they will be working with (partner up before). Picture on one side and spanish word on the other-if they need picture ideas tell them to use the one from the following power point. 4. students then play the “flashcard game”. All students will need to know how to say exaggerated praisers in spanish. (Eres maravilloso/a! etc.), you could also create a class list on your screen for them to say to each other. 5. Round 1: maximum cues-decide who will be the tutor and tutee first. Tutee give their cards to the tutor who proceed holding up one card at a time, first showing the front of the card with the cue and then turning the card and saying the answer to the tutees. The tutors then turn the card around again, showing the front, and the tutee tries to give the answer. Fi the answer is correct, the tutor gives an exaggerated praise and the tutee earns the return of the flash card. If the tutee does not give a correct response s/he is entitled to a “helper” rather than a “praiser”. Helpers are hints of any kind including showing the back fo the card again. If a helper is given, the flashcard is not won back but placed at the bottom of the stack of cards to practice again. When the tutee has won back all of his or her cards, the tutor and tutee switch roles. Round 2: Few cues-played in the same way except that with few cues (move from short to long term memory). Show the front of the card ONLY, and the tutees try to remember the back. Exaggerated praisers or helps follow every attempt. 6. Practice test again-back side of pre test or new sheet, you choose. 7. repeat the flash card game if they still miss some. 8. this is where you can have them turn in each quiz/test to show improvement. 9. Final test and Final improvement scoring. 10. Students can share as a group with you or the class, the biggest improvement score on their team. Then the class can recognize the highest improvement score in the class.
