+ That’s a Poem???
+ This Is Just To Say William Carlos Williams I have eaten the plums that were in the icebox and which you were probably saving for breakfast Forgive me they were delicious so sweet and so cold
+ So what does this mean….? This poem could be interpreted in several different ways. One of the most popular interpretations is that the speaker knew he wasn’t supposed to eat the plums but did it anyway to aggravate or anger the person the note is addressed to – most likely their lover. The last line “and so cold” could imply two different things: that the person the letter was addressed to had been cold to the speaker in the poem. that the speaker in the poem knows it was wrong of them to eat the plums but they have no remorse for doing it.
