IN THE SURVEY TOOK PART 30 STUDENTS OF THE FIRST CLASS OF OUR SCHOOL, AGED 15 Results of the survey on students’ general knowledge of the European Union

1 st Question (part a) Rights & responsibilities of EU’s basic structures. (European Parliament, European Council, European Commission) Results 40% of the students knew half of the answer (knew it partially) 40% 60%

1st Question (part b) 60% of the students knew who participate in the above structures and how the representatives are elected. 60% 40%

2 nd Question Which countries are members of the EU. 40% of the students wrote down of the countries 27% found countries 27% knew countries 7% wrote down 14 – 12 countries % % %

3 rd Question When Greece was accepted as a member in the EU? The majority of our students knew that Greece was accepted in EU in %

4rd Question How is the EU funded? Almost everyone gave wrong answer. Most of them were confused about the sources of the money Only 13% knew that the EU is mostly funded from taxes

5 th Question What are the rights of young people in the EU?

6 th Question Name the programs functioning in Greece that facilitate the youngsters involvement in European initiatives

Conclusion Most of the students partially knew the answers in general questions because in their curriculum there are courses that have to do with the EU as an International Organization. In some more specialized questions the answers were wrong because their knowledge was not sufficient. It is obvious that there are possibilities for better results.
