ENERGY EVERYWHERE

What is Energy? Energy is Everywhere Running Baking Driving Launching a Rocket!

What have we already used today?

Back in time to 1910

Back in time to 1960

Now

So what’s the problem……? We use lots of new things that we couldn’t do without!! But what about all the energy we use…….

How do we get our electricity? Most of our electricity in the UK is produced in power stations like this one at Fiddlers Ferry

How do power stations make electricity? They burn coal or oil or gas. These are called fossil fuels

So what’s the problem……? When we use fossil fuels to make energy we send GREENHOUSE GASES into the air

So what’s the problem…… Too many greenhouse gases are making our Earth heat up, which is causing CLIMATE CHANGE

So what can we do in school? In your school you have two new Junior Energy Monitors:

So what can we do in school? We can try and use less energy to stop so much carbon dioxide being produced We can try and use less energy to save money in school

Small changes can make BIG differences
