IEEE u Submission Slide 2 Regulatory requirement. Current activities in Indian market Future direction of Spectrum Allocation Amarjeet Kumar, Procubed Content

IEEE u Submission Slide 3 As per “IND44” in NFA 2011: Band: MHz Channel Spacing:200KHz Max Tx Power:1Watt ( 4 Watt Effective) Reference: Department of Telecommunications Ministry of Communications & Information Technology Government of India National Frequency Allocation Plan-2011, Amarjeet Kumar, Procubed Regulatory requirement.

IEEE u Submission Slide 4 Current Govt. of India very supportive of ongoing IoT effort. Many Govt. and Industry Alliances are running multiple working groups and are working actively. Major organization and Working groups Telecom Engineering centre, Govt. of India. –M2M Gateway and Architecture –Power –Automotive –Health –Safety and Surveillance –Security (End to End security of M2M domain) –Smart Cities –Smart Homes –Smart villages and Agriculture –Smart Environment (Environment monitoring and Pollution Control) –Smart Governance Amarjeet Kumar, Procubed Current activities in Indian market

IEEE u Submission Slide 5 India Smart Grid Forum, PPP Initiative by Ministry of Power, Govt. of India. –Advanced Transmission and Distribution –Smart Cities –Metering and Communication –Load control and consumption –Policy and regulation –Digital Architecture –Pilots and Business Models –Renewables and Micro grids –Cyber Security Bureau of Indian Standard is working on an standard for “India Smart Meter”. The specification is still under development and the first revision to be released will not contain any details on the communication technologies, it will be part of next revision. This make it urgent to add Indian Frequency band MHz band to IEEE to give a push for use of standard based system. Amarjeet Kumar, Procubed Current activities in Indian market

IEEE u Submission Slide 6 Issue identified: –Since the market size is so huge in India, we cannot accommodate the required number of devices in 2MHz band which is currently available. –The current restriction of 200KHz channel spacing is restricting the higher data rate. Action Plan: –Industry have requested Govt. of India to open additional frequency band. –Also it is requested to allow higher channel spacing to accommodate the higher data rate, as this is one of the requirement identified. Recent activity: –Telecom Engineering centre, Govt. of India have accepted the industry request and created a Technical Paper and submitted it to Depart of Telecommunication for further considerations. –It will take at least months, before any new band gets allocated. Amarjeet Kumar, Procubed Additional Activity
