Christmas Survey

Bell Ringer Convert the fractions to a decimal and a percent: – 1) 3/5 – 2) 7/10 Convert each of these decimals into a fraction: – 3) 0.4 – 4) 0.25

Surveys During the last election, people talked a lot about polls, to say which candidate is winning. How did they do that? 49% ± 2%51% ± 2% Photo by Pete Souza Wikipedia.com Photo by Gage Skidmore Wikipedia.com

Surveys Sometimes you can ask part of a population, and use that information to make predictions about the whole population.

Christmas Survey What is the most popular gift this Christmas? Each student will chose one of the following: – Video Game (Call of Duty: Ghosts) – Clothes (gift certificate to Aeroposatle) – DVD (Hunger Games, Fast & Furious 6, or Despicable Me 2) We will collect information about the class. Each of you will ask 9 people (plus yourself), then calculate the number of students who gave each answer as a fraction, decimal, and percent. Write down the names of the people that you talked to.

Results What was the class average? How close was your result? – It should have been within about 15% If your result was really different from the class average, why do you think that was? If your result was really similar, why do you think you got it right?
