What is Scan Disk? SCANDISK or ScanDisk is a utility in MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows systems which checks and repairs file systems and bad clusters on the hard drive. It was introduced in MS-DOS version 6.2. Previous versions of MS-DOS supplied only the simpler, purely text-based program CHKDSK.

What is its purpose? The purpose of Scan Disk Program is to check your hard disk for errors and to correct problems that are found.

How to install scan disk? You don’t have to install the scan disk software. They are pre- installed with every Microsoft Windows system.

How to use Scan Disk? First, Open Computer by clicking the Start button, and then clicking Computer. Right-click the hard disk drive that you want to check, and then click Properties. Click the Tools tab, and then, under Error- checking, click Check Now. Click Start.
