Tell us about yourself? This should be an honest evaluation of you as a person inside the workplace and outside of the workplace. When answering this question do not give out overtly personal information as the prospective employer does not want to hear your life story. As well as the employer will think that you are a gossip which does not go down well in the workplace. © AustEagle 2010

Why do you want to work here? The answer to this question should include work that the company has done which you have found to be positive and motivating to people in your field. © AustEagle 2010

Why should I hire you? The skills and qualifications that you have acquired in the past should be the groundwork for this answer. These qualities will single you out from other applicants. © AustEagle 2010

What did you like/dislike about your previous job? When answering this question do not make it about bad mouthing your previous company/employer as it shows poor behaviour. The answer to this question should include the limitations in your field, resources and opportunities. © AustEagle 2010

What are your goals for the next five years? This question should reflect who you are as a person. The answer should include where you wish to be career wise and personal wise. Do not go into too much detail. © AustEagle 2010

Can you work under pressure? A skill that employers will be looking for is a person who is able to cope when deadlines and issues arise in the workplace. When answering this question includes an example of a stressful situation that you overcome in your previous job/s. © AustEagle 2010

How do you take direction? When answering this question an employer will be looking for someone who will not constantly battle with their boss. A job seeker should include an example of a project in which they successfully took direction from a senior partner/boss/team leader. © AustEagle 2010

What languages other than English can you speak? When applying for a job the more skills that you have the more likely it is that you will be hired. The ability to speak more than one language means that you may be offered positions and promotions that people without another language may not be able to achieve. © AustEagle 2010

Do you work well in a team? Most jobs in the workplace will have team work somewhere in it. A job seeker should have team skills and be able to give examples of how they have effectively worked in a team. © AustEagle 2010

What do you believe you can bring to this organisation? The answer to this question should include tactics and skills that you can bring to the organisation to improve the quality of business. © AustEagle 2010

How competitive are you? In this world an employer wants a go getter, someone who is willing to go out and be the best they can be. When answering this question describe how you can be competitive in the workplace. © AustEagle 2010

.Are you willing to relocate for this job? Some jobs will require relocation. When answering this question think about where you want to be in five years, if you are willing to seek every opportunity offered to you then answer the interviewer with a firm and positive “yes”. © AustEagle 2010

What kind of salary are you looking for? When answering this question choose a figure that best suits your experience, skills and degree. A brief outline of salaries can be found on our Salary Guide page. © AustEagle 2010

What motivates you? The answer to this question should include work related inspirations as well as personal inspirations. These motivators make you who you are so show them off. © AustEagle 2010

Why do you want to work for us and not our competitor? This question qualifies an answer that describes the policies, procedures and inspiration the company that you are applying to have. To retrieve this type of information either look on the company site, ring the company up or get insider help. Whilst employers will be more impressed if you are able to professionally compare the two companies regarding policies, procedures and business tactics. © AustEagle 2010
