Agenda Overview– what is Instant Challenge? Types of problems: Performance w/ props Performance w/o props Task based Key concepts to perform better as a team

Overview– What is Instant Challenge? Gives your team a chance to show their creative problem solving skills. A problem that the team must solve RIGHT NOW! The more creative, the more points the team receives. It will test the individual as well as the team. IC accounts for 33% of your overall score, so it is important that teams learn to work together. These tests of ingenuity are both fun and stimulating!

Performance with props Teams are given certain materials that are used to create “something.” The team presents their creation to the appraisers through a performance (i.e. skit). Teams are judged on the creativity of both their creation *and* their performance.

Performance without props Teams are given a problem to solve, but they are not allowed to use any props. Teams present their solution in the form of a skit. The team is judged on the creativity of their skit as well as the solution to the problem.

Task-based problems Teams are given a problem to solve. The team can only use the materials given to them. At the end of the challenge, the appraisers will judge how well the team solved the problem. There is no performance component to this type of problem.

Key concepts for better performance  Time management.  Teamwork!  Respect for other members of the team.  Most importantly: remember to have FUN!
