Developing classroom resources for maths and science Workshop 2: Searching for classroom resources

Refresh your memory Previous workshop Taking stock of resources Have you thought of additional resources that you have at your school?

Experience One must learn by doing the thing, for though you think you know it, you have no certainty until you try. Aristotle What was your experience of searching for web-based resources in the last course? How will this influence your search for more specific resources to support specific learning outcomes?

Activity 1: Searching for resources Work in pairs or small groups. 55 min Find a few different resources on the Internet  Ideas related to outcomes.  Be prepared to use these resources for several activities during this course, ending in a planned lesson for their learners.  Look for resources that they can adapt and use in the classroom. Make notes of the type of resources that are available on each site.  Take and use.  Adapt.

Activity 2: Sharing Regroup as a class. 15 min Share the most useful resources that you have found up to this stage. How can you improve your search?

Activity 3: Continue searching Form same pairs or small groups. 55 min Continue search. Save pages that you may find useful in creating lesson resources. Save images that you may find useful.  Note the location - acknowledge these sources.

Next workshop You will plan a teaching and learning resource. Bring any resources with you that you may need.
