Clearing up a few things There are a few things we need to clear up that aren’t exactly clear from the Aeneid. Q. Why did Venus help Aeneas? A. Aeneas is supposedly the son of Venus! (even female gods were at it!) Q. Why did evander tell aeneas about hercules (and why do we care!) A. The story of Hercules was very well known to the Romans as a great hero.
