Lets Make A Map Geography

What is a Map? Map: Is a flat drawing of a place or part of the world.

How do maps help us? Maps help us find our way from one place to another. A map shows where things or places are located. Maps can be used to show how far one place if from another.

What are some parts of a map? Compass Rose: Tells the directions on a map. Legend: Shows the symbols on a map and gives their meaning. Key: Is the same as a legend. It is a table that explains the symbols used on the map Symbols: Symbols are images used to describe something. Scale: The sale is a ruler on a map that measures a distance to find out the larger and real distance on Earth.
