Ecological Footprints

Ecological Footprint It includes how much land and resources from the earth needed for one person to live Every person has their own unique ecological footprint based on the kind of lifestyle they live

Ecological Footprint The main footprints to consider are: Carbon Water Technology Land Food Waste

Your Task: On the sheet provided, brainstorm in the six categories ideas that would fall into that ecological footprint When you are done, on the back side with the foot, draw the items that you use, consume, throw out. There must be one item from each of the 6 categories

Ecological Footprint It is important to calculate our ecological footprint because it allows scientists to estimate the rate at which we are depleting earth of its resources Allows scientists and ecologists to come up with solutions to reduce our consumption and improve the management of our resources

Question What country do you think has the largest ecological footprint per person?

Footprint (hectares needed per person) Country Footprint (hectares needed per person) Afghanistan 0.1 Brazil 2.1 Ethiopia 0.8 Japan 5.9 Russia 4.4 United Arab Emirates 11.9 United Kingdom 6.3 United States 12.3

Your Task Complete a bar graph of the data from the table Answer the following questions: 1. Which countries have the largest footprint? 2. Which countries have the smallest? 3. Why do you think there are such differences in the footprints or these countries?
