Let’s try solving some conversion problems together!

 You know that 12 inches make up one foot.  We are looking for how many inches make up 3 feet.  Take 12 inches per foot and multiply them by the amount of feet you are looking for (3). 12 x 3 = 32 inches.  32 inches = 3 feet With all the knowledge you have on conversions, how many inches make up 3 feet?

 You know that 3 feet make up one yard.  We are looking for how many feet make up 5 yards.  Take 3 feet per yard and multiply them by the amount of yards you are looking for (5). 3 x 5= 15 feet.  15 feet = 5 yards How many feet make up 5 yards?

NOW IT’S YOUR TURN!

 You know that 12 inches make up one foot.  We are looking for how many inches make up 2 feet.  Take 12 inches per foot and multiply them by the amount of feet you are looking for (2). 12 x 2 = 24 inches.  24 inches = 2 feet How many inches make up 2 feet?

 You know that 3 feet make up one yard.  We are looking for how many feet make up 6 yards.  Take 3 feet per yard and multiply them by the amount of yards you are looking for (6). 3 x 6= 18 feet.  18 feet = 6 yards How many feet make up 6 yards?

Let’s try a challenge: 2-step conversion!!!

 You know that 12 inches make up 1 foot and 3 feet make up one yard.  We are looking for how many inches make up 1 yard.  Take 12 inches per foot. Take that amount and multiply it by how many feet are in a yard (3).  12 inches x 3 feet = 32 inches  There are 32 inches in one yard. How many inches make up 1 yard?

 You know that 12 inches make up 1 foot and 3 feet make up one yard.  We are looking for how many inches make up 3 yards.  Take 12 inches per foot. Take that amount and multiply it by how many feet are in a yard (3).  12 inches x 3 feet = 32 inches  Take those 32 inches and multiply them by how many yards they ask for,3.  32 inches x 3 yards = 96 inches.  There are 96 inches in three yards. How many inches make up three yards?

Now It’s Your Turn!

 You know that 12 inches make up 1 foot and 3 feet make up one yard.  We are looking for how many inches make up 3 yards.  Take 12 inches per foot. Take that amount and multiply it by how many feet are in a yard (3).  12 inches x 3 feet = 32 inches  Take those 32 inches and multiply them by how many yards they ask for,2.  32 inches x 2 yards = 64 inches.  There are 64 inches in two yards.
