2/21/2016 Technology Update 2 Introduction Technology is everywhere, including the medical field. There is now an ingestible pill, called the M2A, patients can take to help diagnose intestinal problems This method of diagnosis prevents doctors from performing exploratory surgery to find problems

2/21/2016 Technology Update 3 Facts The pill costs $ with software costs between $20,000-$30,000 The pill weighs 4 grams The pill takes 2 pictures of the intestinal tract every second The pill contains –A light source –A digital camera –Built-in power supply –Radio-frequency transmitter

2/21/2016 Technology Update 4 How it works The patient swallows the pill, the size of the first joint on your pinky finger. The pill is propelled through the digestive track taking 2 pictures a second. The patient wears a belt that has a receiver unit that captures the pictures. The patient resumes normal activities while the pictures are being taken

2/21/2016 Technology Update 5 How it works After 7-8 hours the receiver is taken off the patient The pictures are downloaded to the computer and analyzed by the doctor The pill is expelled as normal
